I still can't get this thing to work

I just followed the documentation excerpt that cjisble has in his response and Linux Terminal is now working fine on your system. You probably won't need it, but I just wanted to be sure that the documentation is correct. There are a few changes that are needed, I just need to figure out what article that was in

Any advice on getting the AppleTV working? I'm tempted to delete and redo it.

We looked at it
You did not get the 2nd companion auth token in the procedure so Apple didn't allow the connection.
step 1 was to PairAirPlay. You must have done that.  Step #2 was to PairCompanion.    Similar process as PairAirplay but token (a NEW Token - not the same as step1 which it looks like got copied to the second "Members" field.
It if vitally important that you follow the instruction line for line, crossing off each instruction line as you perform that task.
These devices are very picky.

Ugh. I meant to check that. I definitely did do the second step but obviously I pasted the same code twice for Notes and Members. This one I'm actually a bit embarrassed by.
