Rackmount myServer - whole server unresponsive

I don't think I'm the only one as I found these threads:

I've had something similar happen once, it was after a "host reboot". Nothing would respond, I think in my case it's referred to as a "kernel panic".

And it's happened again, exactly the same - myServer suddenly goes completely unresponsive to any communications until I yank the plug to power cycle it. And I still haven't sorted out plugging an HDMI lead into it...

It seems to be once a week roughly but I've only had my monitoring going just over a week so that's just based on my memory at the moment.

And the symptoms were the same - myServer appears (from the log) to have been running normally then spontaneously restarted but not properly as there's none of the normal log chatter until I unceremoniously yoink the power an hour later.

And again! So it isn't every week. This time I've got HDMI plugged in. The video output is still showing the Pi desktop with the clock stuck at the time the whole system locked up (21:32). No response to local mouse or keyboard plugged in to the Pi - had to yank the power again. It looks like the whole Pi might be spontaneously rebooting but as most log files start from boot it's difficult to say after I've done a power cycle. Anywhere I can look to confirm or deny this?

This is really pissing me off. All I want is a rock solid reliable remote control system. Home automation is just a nice extra.
