Is it possible to use the Bluetooth in the harmony hub to drive the ATV commands ?
I'm going to piggyback off of my harmony for the first while until more drivers get built and released.
This is precisely what I intend to do for all of my devices which are currently running and controlled via the Harmony Hub / Elite remote (assuming the Logitech driver works properly). It makes more sense, I think, to use what definitely works and then I can test out with IP control of devices one at a time, and then work up to multi-device macros and transfer everything across from Harmony to Allonis.
While the system seems quite powerful - although I'll have to wait until I actually get mine, given it's been sitting in the delivery depot for three days now, waiting on the authorities sending me the customs charges to pay - it, like all new products, definitely appears to have some glitches to be ironed out (although a number of them do appear to be caused by users not reading the manual, so to speak).
I think, as well, as I've said elsewhere, there's been a combination of the product maybe being sent out before the documentation was ready, and this being a product aimed at consumer tech enthusiasts who will, regardless of how much you tell them, not stop tinkering and / or doing things out of order, like a bunch of unruly kids, unlike corporate concerns where the stuff is installed and managed remotely. Geeks like those of us who buy into systems like this are never gonna be content to sit back and let support do the work. I do recall David mentioning his surprise at the lack of take up in the KS for support, but i think this is the reason for that - we like to do things ourselves! David may be waking up shivering these days with nightmares of running round 90 different installs shouting
"follow the instructions, read the manual, do it this way!", but honestly, with a product like this aimed at a consumer base like this that shouldn't really be a surprise - I bet 90% of the people who backed the SmartRemote also already run Home Assistant or something similar and are used to digging in.
I'm looking forward to three or six months down the line when the metaphorical dust has settled, the processes and procedures are all up to date, there are step by step walkthroughs for every install type, and all drivers work. I think this is gonna be a great system, and I'm willing to put up with a few stutters to get there - as long as the harmony and Home Assistant integrations work when I get my remote and server out of the box anyway.
