VM installs

If there isn't already we should start a new thread just for VM based installations (with a big "Here be dragons" warning).

OK I'm starting again, this time from Debian 12.9 ISO ( cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/amd....9.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso ) with bare minimum installed initially (just SSH and system utilities i.e. no desktop). I'm installing under Proxmox 7.4-19 which is out of support already but I can't cope with installing and configuring another whole new thing at the moment...

The actual hardware is a Dell Optiplex USFF PC with an Intel Core i5-10500T CPU @ 2.30GHz, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD.

VM specs:
CPU - 2 cores
Mem - 8GB
Disk - 150GB

I'll be following the official page here  allonis.com/support/documentation?view=category&id=416 except I shan't be installing anything Docker related unless I have to.

Aren't the myserver drivers basically just docker containers ? 
I see no other reason why docker would be essential for the installation.

But you have definitely looked at the how's and why's more than I have so I'm only guessing. 

No, myServer drivers are not docker containers.
Some of the drivers leverage Allonis image docker containers to add optional software....but very few of those.

So docker is not essential to the installation of myserver ? And is actually "kind of optional" ? 

If docker is not installed, will myServer give a warning or error if one tries to install one of those uncommon drivers that needs it ? 

It's alive!  Debian 12.9 running under Virtualization Station on my QNAP.  The installation instructions were outdated and had a bunch of syntax issues.  No big deal, Professor Google helped a lot.    I will probably make this my backup server due to my current backup crashing at weird times.
