VM installs

I did the install via the instructions but it's pretty sketchy how it works. In the Allonis AppleTV driver instructions they make reference to needing to start something when the server starts... You don't have to do it if you use their master image.

I "Fixed" it by going back to IR for the AppleTV. This actually fixes another issue where the ATV drops it's control connection whenever they do an update. I had an open port on my Global Cache device so it was an easy switch.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but it would really be great if there was an official virtual image, or Docker image that you could easily deploy.

Just switched over to my "New" myServer running on my QNAP as a VM.

Key Points Learned with the Migration

1. Custom Server Variables are not backed up and restored via the DB backup utility. I needed to manually recreate them.
2. On my QNAP I needed a static address for the myServer. Without it, it would boot and start to run but the myServer app would show the address as unknown. Restarting the myServer would allow it to see the address. Setting it to Static makes it "sticky".
3. Use Snapshots if possible during the install to save your work at key points. I had to restore a previous snapshot when I messed up a step in the install.
4. Take Notes (something I refuse to learn), it really helps!

FYI, Chrome won't apparently run if a Desktop doesn't exist.  And TeamViewer support can't happen then either.  Recommendation is install a Desktop UI so you aren't trying to workaround these "dependencies". 

Anyone having issues restoring their license ? Do I need to send another activation request ?

If you are installing to a second hardware, you need to purchase a second license. And then send in an Activation for the new license on the new hardware.

So, is the issue that the ATV driver doesn’t seem to work (or errors) under a VM environment? Well, that could be because of the shared NIC or probably the shared NIC’s mac address. I can replicate as I have a few ATV’s and certainly have several PROXMOX installations here.

Not sure that I would run TeamViewer in the myServer VM. Keep things clean and separate - well in my opinion.
