Button backlight times out while still using the remote

I would be more inclined to want that behavior if all streaming services used a consistent UI paradigm. I cut the cord on live tv 15 years ago but I can envision that working well in a traditional TV channel guide where the number of rows on screen and the order of those channels is predictable. IMO jumping multiple lines at a time is not a great experience in any apps where rows change dynamically and even the number of rows that are visible on screen varies from app to app. If I'm on row 1 in an app and there's 3 rows visible on screen I don't want the system to autoscroll a preconfigured amount like 10 or 20 rows. At that point I don't even know what content is being offered on rows 4 - 20.

I'm very glad the system has the flexibility to accommodate our various different use cases.

We are working on a bunch of product features that will be available soon and we can look at the timeout to make that more configurable for the unique needs.

This is exactly what happens when you convert the hard buttons to macros that include the WakeUpMyRemote command. To the letter.

It's kind of a janky way to go about implementing it but the bottom line is that it makes the backlight behave exactly how I've envisioned since pretty much day one. It no longer matters if I'm looking through my movie library for 5 seconds or 5 minutes. From a practical perspective when I pick up the remote the backlight turns on and stays on until I'm done with it and then turns off when I set it down. If the backlight does shut off because I haven't pressed a button during the timeout interval the next button press immediately wakes the backlight again regardless of whether the screen is still on or off.

Overall I'm very pleased by how this worked out. I suspect you will be as well. 

Yeah, I just don't have the time right now to configure all of the physical buttons on every one of my scenes over to macros. When I get time I'll try it out.
