Button backlight times out while still using the remote

I hear ya. It's a strange problem, and the fact that it's crickets is what leads me to assume it can't be fixed.

Crickets means we are super busy with projects.
So, what's the change needed? The SmartRemote's backlight - you hold the remote and the backlight times out? It should wake up when it is again moved. What's the change that is wanted?

The backlight always times out at the programmed interval no matter what. It doesn't matter if you move the remote again the backlight will not turn back on until the screen has also timed out.

Let's say I have the screen and buttons set to time out after 15 seconds. If I pick up the remote the buttons and screen will both turn on. If I'm still doing something with the remote after those 15 seconds are up the screen will stay on since it's always tied to the accelerometer, but the backlight will turn off regardless at the 15 second mark. At that point it doesn't matter what you do the backlight will not turn back on unless you set the remote down, wait another 15 seconds for the screen to time out, and then pick the remote back up. The buttons then turn back on for another 15 seconds and the cycle repeats.

Increasing the timeout threshold isn't ideal, because it means that when the buttons do timeout you have to set the remote down for an even longer duration waiting for the screen to timeout as well.

I'm sure Bowlingbeeg will chime in with his thoughts, but I'm thinking it would be ideal if the backlight/screen wake time could be synchronized so they both behave the way the screen does now. Both the screen and buttons should continue to remain lit while it detects motion, and then both would turn off at the set time after the remote is put down. If that's not possible it would be an improvement if the backlight could at least be made to light up again upon a keypress.

I hope this is clear, but I'm happy to try to clarify further if what I'm saying doesn't make sense.
 

I'm sure this would be a lot tougher, but here it goes....  If the system is executing a Macro kicked off by the remote, keep the backlight on and start the timer when it completes.  The use case is turning on the Home Theater, I hit the "Power" button, it kicks off the "Startup" Macro.  By the time everything turns on, the remote is dark.  We need to give it a shake to wake it up at that point.   In my case, once the system is live, I will probably hit more buttons...thus resetting the timer...  For me this would be ideally how it operates.
