How goes Harmony Hub implementations?

Thank you. I entered the commands. F1 brings up the SAP menu. F2 does nothing.
I am definitely a neophyte at this. Here is the screen shot. Where did I go wrong?

Can you get the guide to come up by using the 'soft' on screen buttons?

If so, try this (this is what I did):
- Load up MyServer
- In the dashboard turn on the 'Logging' slider
- Press 'Live Event Log' to open un the logging window
- Press the soft on-screen button on the remote that brings up the guide
- The Log will churn out a load of stuff showing what happened when that button is pressed
- For me (for example) when I press the guide for my Virgin Tivo box in the logs this line (amongst others) popped up:

It is this phrase "AV|3~Press~80513405~Guide" that I put into the command line for the hard button.

Yours will be different (certainly different numbers)

Then hard button will then do the same as the soft button.

Note however that the stuff in {{curly brackets}} in the longer version you have been putting in are variables which refer to the active activity or device, meaning that in theory the 'Guide' command should be triggered for whichever activity or device is currently active. There are no {{curly brackets}} in the above text I refer and thus no variables.  The string of numbers above ('80513405' in my case) refers to just one specific device or activity - an 'absolute' reference. That's fine for me as I only want to press Guide on my Virgin Tivo box but using an 'absolute' value like this and not the {{curly bracket variable}} in the hardbuttons for 'harmony' means the key will forever be locked to that one device when using Harmony.

I have been ditching the built in Harmony scene completely and slowly (very slowly) building my own custom remote screens for my activities and devices. Current early draft for Virgin TV attached, by way of example, which works amazingly well (channel buttons run a macro which cause the corresponding channel number (ie 101 for BBC 1) to be input):

On that note... What an amazing add on it would be to have an overlay which automates the creation of channel buttons and corresponding channel numbers (Harmony did it by asking user geographic location, and which corresponding TV service they were running and then autopopulated channels) - I assume there is some public database of channel lists, icons, and number based on cable/freeview/satellite service etc?


PS far better to be an admitted neophyte than a labelled philistine!


 

You might be asking for Allonis's optional TVGuide App / Data subscription (currently $100/year). We use this on just about all of our Commercial installations and now our custom residential ones.
For DirecTV and Cable boxes. Streaming TV services may need to have custom lineup / channel guides modified from DTV / Cable box lineups (to map your "channel" to the DTV ones).
I noticed that the SmartRemote emulator on allonis.com DirecTV / TVGuide isn't populating...we will fix this....you can go to the SportsBar Demo, click on a DirecTV source and click on the bottom TVguide button to see the onscreen TVGuide listings and it's features.

Many thanks but not quite what I am looking for.  Just a suggestion that users may benefit from a method to automate the creation of a channels overlay populated with channels relevant to their location and setup.  It's no great hardship to manually create your own (as I have started to do as per screenshot).

Are you talking about icons for channels or a TVGuide?
Note that the TVGuide App sends the selected channel commands and has the icons built in.  But it also has "what's playing and when" and Scheduled channel changes...

Just clickable icons for channels, not a guide.  Query whether it would be possible to create a script that autopopulates an overlay with clickable channels icons based on user's location and TV service?
