What's the specific issue with the AndroidTV driver?
And please post issues in their respective forums so it doesn't get lost.

No specific issue, but having equal access some of the information HA debug driver provides would allow a lot of options to configure, current app, image of whats on the screen.

And I was sorting messing around with a way to have a inactivity automation so instead of dimming the remote screen show a black image or dimmed clock. That's why I connected the HA android debug to the smart remote. Like the turning off the screen while charging automation that this thread is about.

I asked about a variable for the remotes accelerometer a while ago and was told it would flood the server with information slowing every thing down. That made sense but could it be done in a way that would only update after a state change.
ie no motion for a while screen dims = varible smartremote~sleeping
first motion after sleep state = varible smartremote~awake
just a thought

Thanks

Perhaps a dumb question, but does this require setting up the AndroidTV driver?  I was trying to figure out the AV ID of my smartremote and not finding it anywhere, but slowing absorbing the thread it sounds like that's because I don't have the AndroidTV driver setup so the remote isn't found as an AV device?  If so, is there another way to sleep the remote without the AndroidTV driver?

Yes, Requires AndroidTVDriver.
And Discover your turned on and networked SmartRemote.
Takes a few minutes but it should find it.
Then myServer can do things like turn the screen off.

Yup, got it working.  I ran into the same issue as CrabbyPatties a couple of times in the process.  Restarting myServer fixed it each time, we'll see if it keeps working.

It's 'Patties'.  As in SpongeBob.  As in being a parent has finally driven me a little insane.  'Panties' is a bit too weird, even for me.
