Remote backlighting not working? was created by Nillaz
Does anyone have a working backlight for the buttons, and If so is there a way to define it's behavior? When I power on the remote the backlight illuminates the buttons while it is booting so I know it's not a hardware problem, but as soon as it gets to the android dashboard the backlight shuts off and I can't figure out a way to trigger it otherwise. Pressing the remote's side button turns the screen on and off but doesn't seem to be linked to the backlight and the accelerometer doesn't seem to trigger it either.

Mine is the same way, hadn't actually noticed it since I've been doing everything with the lights on.

The hard buttons on the remote are not backlite. The labels will slightly fluoresce in a dark room. When the SmartRemote apk is not running the display should time out and turn off after a few minutes. When SmartRemote is running we set the display brightness to 0 and any movement of the remote should bring it back to 100%.  Because Android does not allow a display to be dimmed to zero it really goes to about 5% brightness.

Dave on my remote the buttons are NOT fluorescent and they are definitely backlit. This is 100% guaranteed. Also, when the smartremote.apk is running my screen does not dim down after a few minutes so I have no way of knowing whether the accelerometer actually functions. Pressing the side button does toggle the screen on and off, and I mean completely on and off. I'm looking at it in a pitch black room and there is no glow to the screen or buttons whatsoever.

It seems I am having the same issue, no backlighting of keys after the remote starts up.  The keys light up when loading the OS but once the home page is up no lights from any action with the remote.  The screen does go dime after a period of time though.

Thanks,

Tom

I did have an instance about 15 minutes ago where the remote had dimmed down and when I picked it up it brightened back up again. After sitting it back down it hasn't dimmed again yet and I've been waiting for about 10 minutes now. Do you know how long the interval is before your remote dims down?
