I adjusted the documentation to avoid the misunderstanding. About.html (not "Settings").

Ok, looking forward to your reviews and posts on forums!!

Did you folks see the new Kickstarters out there for Remote controls? I just don't get it...

I have seen them. The Haptique is most definitely not to my taste, and I suspect that they're not going to survive long term. I am a backer of the Unfolded Circle Remote 3 but I'm thinking long and hard about whether I'm going to cancel or not. I don't love it's heavy reliance on Home Assistant and I obviously don't need it anymore. If I go through with it it's more to satisfy my curiosity than anything else at this point. I'm more than a little shocked at the obscene amount of money they have raised though.

I screwed up and bricked one of my remotes. When it boots, it says there is a problem with the Android OS and says try again, or factory reset. I did the Factory reset and it boots back to that screen (one big loop).

My mistake was with the Android Uninstall (step 6). I left the SmartRemote box blank

Now my other remote, that I did properly did the same thing....It initially came up with the right screen (the original screen), but then it rebooted itself and is giving the "try again" screen.  A Factory Reset didn't fix it.  Both are bricked.  I'm assuming the only solution is a trip back home :-(.

Help!!

When you say you left the SmartRemote field blank...you mean in the AV|324~ForceUninstall~Smartremote
You did
AV|324~ForceUninstall~
and Ran that?

And did the same exact thing on the second remote?
We are trying to figure out what you did, how you were able to do that, and if there is any local fix that can be applied without shipping it back for a new OS image...

It would have run this command...

AV|14~ForceUninstall~

I did this for both remotes... The second one didn't reboot so I looked at the instructions and saw the "smartremote" add. I ran the correct command and the remote did what it should.

Unfortunately after a few minutes it rebooted, and is coming up with the try again / factory reset option. Both remotes are stuck there.

Totally my fault for failing reading comprehension....

Don't feel too bad. I just did the same thing. When the instructions said select the smart remote, I did not realize you should select it twice. Once for the target device and again as the app name.  I also ran AV|2~ForceUninstall~ and came here looking for help.
The choices seem to be Try again or factory data reset.

I sucks...when it happened I figured that doing the Factory reset would be a "get out of jail" free option. Unfortunately that didn't happen.
