Remote Stopped Working after TV Software Update

My Sony TV notified me of a Software Update.  After updating, MyServer can no longer control the TV.

The message in the log says:  Cannot send command to device Sony A80K - Device not connected.

I checked the setting of the TV and IP control is still enabled.  I also tried unplugging the TV and restarting.

Any suggestions as to what else to check?

This might be a dumb question, but has the IP address assigned to the tv changed?

Not a dumb question.

I setup a static IP address in the TV settings, and it is unchanged. I also confirmed that the MAC address matches what is entered in the Device Address field.

If I browse the network using File Explorer in Windows, the TV shows up under Other Devices.

When I setup my Shield to be controlled via ADB, there was an acceptance request that I needed to confirm before the remote started working. I'm wondering if Sony tightened security in the latest update to do something similar.

I also have no way to confirm if Sony changed the network port or not.

I suppose I could try to delete and re-add the Device. But before I do that, I was hoping that another user with a Sony TV could confirm if they were having the problem, or not.

I believe the authentication options have changed. "None" is no longer an option. The only two choices are "Normal" or "Normal with Pre-Shared Key".

I found my old post from February 2024.  The authentication options have not changed.  However, that post directed me to do an NMap of the Sony TV IP address.  Here are the results:

cji@nimrodel:~$ nmap 192.168.0.40
Starting Nmap 7.80 ( nmap.org ) at 2025-09-22 07:51 EDT
Nmap scan report for 192.168.0.40
Host is up (0.00037s latency).
Not shown: 994 closed ports
PORT     STATE SERVICE
80/tcp   open  http
7000/tcp open  afs3-fileserver
8008/tcp open  http
8009/tcp open  ajp13
8443/tcp open  https-alt
9000/tcp open  cslistener

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.12 seconds
cji@nimrodel:~$

Note that Port 20060 is not listed as an open port.  Turning on Simple IP Control should open this port.  I am going to contact Sony to see what happened.

I reported the problem to Sony. However, the guy on the phone doesn't know what a port is. After trying a factory reset on my TV, which did not help, he insists the problem is with my home network. I have little hope that the problem will get passed on to someone who can actually fix it.

If you have a Sony TV, do not update to PKG6.8100.0951NAA.

Maybe point the Sony rep to their Bravia support doc
pro-bravia.sony.net/develop/integrate/ssip/overview/

If the support rep doesn't know what a port is, then you should escalate to 2nd level support that understands their support doc.
