... works. I can open in the safe modes and access settings. I can not change the network setting. when I access network settings the smartremote will only stay on the page for 5 seconds before exiting. i need to change a wifi setting. so am stuck.

Not sure what you mean by Safe Mode...of the Android OS?  that shouldn't "ever" be needed so I wouldn't even go there.
You should be able to long press the dot dot dot and then EXIT SmartRemote.apk (app).
Then use Android Desktop to change your wifi settings.
But, the screen shot you displayed suggests that you are on the right network, that you are connected to myServer BUT you aren't pointing to the right folder name.  In the documentation it says to download the SmartRemote-sample template and THEN rename it to smartremote.  And the SmartRemote settings should (by default) also point to the smartremote folder and life should be good again.

I understand that this is a Kickstarter, and I have read all the posts and understand the need to be patient. However, this is far more involved than I ever imagined. It is a beautifully designed product, and I am certain that for those who have the expertise, it will be fabulous. Regrettably, that is not me.

At some point Allonis changed something and now every time you exit the app it restarts it.  The only way I've found to stop that is to exit the smartremote app then try to quickly navigate to the settings and disable wifi.  After a little bit turn it back on and it should give you enough time to change things.  At least it did on mine.
