Are there any videos of the remote being used?

I've looked through the videos on the Allonis YT page but can't find any videos of someone actually using it in a home theater/tv room. I can't get mine to do anything and wondering what it looks like to actually use it.

I'm hoping to put together something like this next week if I can figure out a way to record the remote while I'm using it and have it not be a shaky cam mess.

I'm not sure this is going to be a ton of help for you though. Practically every page on my remote has either been heavily modified from the default template or replaced entirely.

So I've been trying to do this for a few days and turns out it's super hard to film a remote and a tv at the same time lol. It doesn't help that I'm not exactly a youtuber either. I like to watch movies, not make them.

Even still I got it done, though you are forewarned it is an exceptionally long video. I think I covered everything though. Apologies for the video quality too, but I hope you can take something useful from it.

That's some setup you have. So impressive. I have 2 questions if you don't mind
1) You mentioned you are using a Flirc with your Shield and I was just wondering how you set that up 2) From reading your posts in this Forum it seems like you are largely self taught. Is there a resource out there that you found useful to help you

Great job with your SmartRemote and the video

Thanks. I'll watch the whole video when I have a bit more time.

I still haven't had a chance to get mine working. My schedule is too sporadic.

Thanks for the kind words!

1: The FLIRC was one of the more complicated things I've done, but the gist of it was that I downloaded the Shield codeset from the myServer IR database and then in the FLIRC software I mapped each command (cursor left, right, etc.) to the corresponding Windows keyboard command. Then in the Generic IR driver I used the Command Builder to get the proper syntax for each command and copied them to the corresponding hard buttons in myDesigner for my ShieldTV page.

For example, I have an IR bug coming from port 3 on one of my IP2IR's and attached to the FLIRC on the Shield. In myDesigner in the hard button configuration for my ShieldTV page I have the SmartRemotes left button configured to send the command "Control|3~SendIR~Nvidia-Shield Android TV IR~CURSOR LEFT". In the FLIRC software (which I hate!) I taught it to issue the Windows left arrow command when it receives this IR signal.

The complication came from the fact that I wanted keys that aren't part of the Nvidia Shield codeset (F1, F2, etc). I was able to do this using a Harmony remote and the GlobalCache iLearn utility to learn the commands I needed and copy/paste them into the myServer IR database. This was a HUGE pain in the ass that took me hours of trial and error to get right. Looking back in hindsight I could have made this easier on myself by using IR commands from some random device I'll never own or use in my house that are already in the GC Control Tower database but c'est la vie.

I know for a fact that FLIRC integration is either A:in the works for the SmartRemote but not ready for primetime, or B:already done and just hasn't been exposed to us in myServer for one reason or another. I vaguely remember David saying at one point that they were going to be working on it so I suspect it's the former.

2: Yes, like pretty much everyone else I'm self taught. Unfortunately there really isn't one resource I can point to. I watched the videos, read the documentation, asked questions here on the forum, looked at examples of how Allonis sets things up in myDesigner and how the macros work in myServer, and experimented like crazy. I've made plenty of mistakes, and getting this all together was mostly through sheer grit and determination. At some point Allonis is going to have to come up with a better method of onboarding new users. I don't envy them the task it's going to be a monumental challenge.
