What UI are you trying to launch? What media player will you be using?
Guessing: You have the "Roku" media player. You install the Roku Driver and add your hardware as a "device". It gets it's own Device ID. You install "Emby Player" on the Roku via it's App store. Add the Roku device to the "Living Room". On the SmartRemote, connect it to myServer's IP address and choose "SmartRemote" as the folder.
Connect to myServer. The Home Page should load. Click on the top and choose your name (you already set this up in myServer) and the Living Room. Your icons should now include Roku. Click on Roku icon. The Roku UI should open and the app icons installed on your Roku should magically appear. Click Emby. You can now use the SmartRemote hard buttons to navigate the Emby player's functions.
Ok. I misunderstood your original post. It seemed as though you were able to load and navigate the emby/jellyfin/Plex UI on the remote itself not simply control the client/player.

Hi, yes, there will be a myServer UI for Media Player / Servers "soon". We have done extensive work on that in the past ("myMovies" / "myMusic" et al). Our strategy today is not recreating yet another media database but to leverage those that already do a good job with that and put a easy to use user interface in front of it. We are centering around JellyFin. Kodi and Plex are naturals too. When we can get to this, we will let you know!! The recent addition to the "Media Player" device type to myServer architecture is a step in this direction.
The Kodi driver is headed in that direction. On the SmartRemote, it shows what is playing and how far along you are in the viewing.
It seems like it would be difficult to browse the library on the SmartRemote screen, but it is comfortable on a tablet.
I have the Kodi UI app installed on my iPad and use that to browse and select what I want to watch. For playback control I use the SmartRemote.
Trying to control Kodi running on the Shield with the Android TV driver was frustrating. Trying to control the Shield with the Android TV driver for streaming and the Kodi driver when running Kodi worked, but I never worked out how to automatically switch to the right driver at the right time. The best solution for me is to have a dedicated box running Kodi and only use the Shield for streaming.
With proper integration you could view the playback info, and browse from a tablet or phone. I agree navigating would be difficult on the remote screen but it was surprisingly good for the webui of my monolith htp and I can browse the ezbeq database quite easily on the remote screen. So it may not be as bad as we think.
I also use the Kodi driver on my ugoos, works fantastic... I just wish the Kodi library integrated better with jellyfin. Like being able to access movie collections from the info screen of one of the movies in the collection. Thats just one of the small quirks that need to be worked around.
