I remember reading a side comment in one of the topics that it is a good idea to clear the browser cache and reload the page after updating myServer.

What about other updates, such as drivers, and templates?  In general, what is the procedure to make sure updates are fully propagated?

I would clear cache after any myServer update.  Note this is for any connected browser device.  Today there likely will be a myServer update that makes this super easy, as clearing cache on the SmartRemote browser isn't super easy today (you have to use chrome://inspect today).

Generally not necessary for any other updates.
I would reboot myserver controller after any Linux updates (even though rarely really required).
I would restart myServer after configuration settings before you start testing that all is working post configuration.

Here are a couple of specific cases that got me wondering...

Sometimes when you configure a driver, it automatically adds a source.  Other drivers don't.  I wasn't sure if a driver update would ever require that you delete the source, delete the device, and then reconfigure it

I noticed a change in the smart remote where users and rooms are now side-by-side on the same page.  However, both columns were empty.  I cycled power on the remote, and that page is now working as expected.

There was a short term bug in a version of myServer yesterday that caused that blank room / user webpage problem.  Fixed with later releases.
That wasn't a browser cache issue.  But it's still a good idea to flush cache after the update anyway since you really don't know where the changes / fixes are in code (nor should you need to care).

myDesigner 6 latest update can modify your Web Templates to "auto refresh" their cached files.  So...no more need to manually refresh the browser / smartremote cache.
To implement:  Download latest myDesigner 6.  Install it.  Launch it.  Click on the Project folder name (like "smartremote") and click the Update Project button.  In a minute, you should get a message that the project was updated.  Reload your client device, and it will receive the updated files that auto refresh cache.

Now, that doesn't auto update the template files.  You still need to get latest template files from myServer's Software Updater and then move the downloded template ("smartremote-sample")  into your Active Folder ("smartremote").

But a bit easier process now!

David,

Could you please specify what you mean by "...moving the template into your Active Folder..."?

Thanks.
