Directv Osprey Box

I don't have DTV but I prefer to use a hybrid approach with my devices. I monitor state via IP but prefer to use IR for control wherever possible.

Well, all of my device are IP wherever is possible. Near instant response. Can't even tell a gap.
So, that part I don't get.

This all started with the Shield. I have the same issue as Kyle where it's responsiveness via IP is pretty unpleasant. I switched to IR and it's a night and day difference, particularly after Dave was kind enough to slightly modify the IR driver for me. This worked out so well I switched everything to the IP/IR approach. I couldn't be more pleased!

 

I agree with Nillaz, the "hybrid" approach is the way to go.

And I don't believe in all or nothing: My remote's page for my Onkyo receiver uses IP, IR and Learned IR all on the same page. Why limit oneself? I also have duplicate Directv pages, where one page uses IP and the other IR. My Directv sometimes will get sluggish when using the IP commands (don't know why), so I will just switch to the IR page.

Hey, it works!  I like the hidden, click on Build 7 times and say the magic spell approach for turning on ADB.  I also have multiple pages (Zidoo, Serial and Network)  ATV (Driver and IR).

We are in the middle of a Snowstorm so it's a perfect time to mess around!
