Can't designate myDesigner project as a SmartRemote?

What criteria does myDesigner use to determine whether a project can be designated as a SmartRemote? I'm not sure when this happened or what caused it, but when I now go into Project Properties for my smartremote the min and max scaling factor has been removed and Enable Smart Remote is now unchecked. I've tried to re-enable these but it doesn't save and now I can't assign commands globally to hardkeys. My backup smartremote-sample project still has these options enabled.

Page width = 480
Height = 800
min scale = 0.5
max scale = 2
Enable SmartRemote selected.

Ensure your project is updated with latest myDesigner's latest javascript updates (updated using myDesigner).
Ensure you have enough licensing in myServer. If not, eliminate unused templates or devices and / or purchase additional license units from Allonis.com Shop.

I've tried setting those options and they don't save. I'm on the latest myDesigner and have updated the project. Currently I'm using less than 60 of my licenses.

I did have another smartremote project that I was using for experimentation. I deleted this but still it's still no bueno on enabling the smartremote stuff in myDesigner.

Also, if I create a new project I can set this up correctly and the system retains them. It's only on my existing project that I can't set these settings.

Open the Events dialog in the Designer. Any errors being reported? You might not have write access to the files. The Designer is trying to write to the _.project file in the template folder.

I just figured it out. It was an issue with the global background image I assigned to the project. Once I removed it, saved, and then re-added it I'm back where I should be.
