MyDesigner and SMB issues...

I believe I have a SMB Windows 11 issue that I just cannot solve that causes MyDesigner to hang.

MyDesigner succesfully connects to the server and correctly lists all my projects in the left hand pane which I can load and edit.

However... if I ever go to click the 'three dots' icon to browse (for example) images, MyDesigner hangs.

Connected with this - in Windows 11 - I can (and have) mapped a drive to '[IP of server]/myServer' and through that mapped drive I can navigate the files and folders of myServer.

What I cannot do is navigate manually to the share via explorer (ie typing in '\\[IP ADDRESS]\myServer' - nothing happens.

I have used cmd to run 'control userpasswords2' and removed all relevant credentials from Windows passwords and started over, but still the same behaviour happens.

Am currently stuck with a regularly hanging MyDesiger6 and cannot easily import images (though if I type the path and file name in manually it loads....)

I run myServer in a virtual machine on a QNAP.  After installing and configuring Samba, I also installed WSDD (Web Service Discovery Daemon) which makes a Samba host discoverable by Windows clients.  (sudo apt install wsdd)

Assuming you are running on Allonis supplied hardware, I don't know if installing WSDD is an option.  But I suspect it would solve your problem.
 

As an experiment right-click on Windows 11 start button. Choose run.  In the Open text box enter \\[IP ADDRESS]\myServer and click ok. Are you prompted for credentials? If yes then enter allonis / allonis and make sure to click on remember. If no then does that open the share and you can browse files?

Not prompted for anything.  Nothing happens.
Trying to manually navigate there in explorer sometimes (after a lengthy delay) brings up a credentials box.  Log in as other user > allonis | allonis.  And Nil.

Yet....

Mapping a drive to the share works perfectly.  Very odd.

sudo apt install wsdd did not appear to work.

Manually installing wsdd did work and caused the server to auto appear in Windows 11 network discovery.

But I am still wrestling with trying to get in....

    

I've given up for now and in the settings part of myDesigner where it asks for the share path I put the mapped drive letter to the share. In my case this is m:

This seems to work for loading/saving projects and scenes and browsing the image folders.
