Enable / disable of devices and sources

Consider the following device / source scenario for a Denon AVR. Discovery enters three devices for the three zones. For this device I am only using the main zone. In the Denon devices page I disable Zone #2 and Zone #3. This does not disable Zone #2 and Zone #3 for the Denon AVR on the Sources & Apps page. Is this the expected behavior?

Is there a recommended practice such as disabling Zone #2 and Zone #3 both places (driver level and source level) or delete the Zones not being used at the driver level?

I would not just disable but delete the unneeded zones.
