Home Assistant Replacement ? was created by Fattykidd
So will myserver be a full replacement for home assistant?
Will myserver be able to accept webhooks from Jellyfin or Plex to activate automations ?
Will there be drivers/integrations for Jellyfin and/or Plex natively?
Possibly a Spotify integration?

I suppose I'm basically asking if I should continue with setting up home assistant or save my time/energy.

myServer is a complete automation system.
It will have full integration with Jellyfin and after that Plex, after the SmartRemote launch.
There isn't a requirement for HomeAssistant but the combination is a huge tool box of capability.
Your call.

I'll definitely be keeping my HA server running. The thing about HA is that it's completely open source, which means that if there's not an official integration for something then there's a good chance that there will be a community created one, likely via GitHub and HACS.

Plus, the recent innovations with Year of Voice, along with the progress of LLMs and ChatGPT, including a local version of the latter (although admittedly slow at this point) being integrated with Home Assistant mean that local voice control via hardware options not controlled by Amazon or Google, and extending into potential AI agents, is very close.

Indeed, there are already at least a couple of projects, not including the official one from Nabu Casa, out there which are pushing boundaries.

Gentlemen:

I am sure that many of you have many tools at home to do the various projects around your house. There are at times multiple tools to do the same job. But, not all tools perform the same function "safely", right?

It is the same in the automation world. Multiple tools (or automation systems), one of which do certain things better than others. Some last longer than others. In the past 20 years, how many automation companies have gone out of business or completely changed?  We know the answer. So will not go through the names...

Keep in mind that that myServer6 has already been in many professional installations as the sole automation system controlling audio, video, lighting, HVAC, etc for many years.  So, to answer the question, could myServer6 be the sole automation system and a replacement of Home Assistant.... Of course it can. Future development will bring more capabilities. As it already has.

Just chiming in. My idea (at least for now) is to keep Home Assistant doing home automation, and myServer to do media control (integrated with Home Assistant to, for example, call a scene to lower blinds, when turning on the TV).

In my experience the media control (tv on, select input, navigate, etc) in home assistant isnt friendly at all, so thats the gap I'm aiming to cover with myServer and the Smart Remote.
