Hi, thats pretty weird... Can you confirm that when you open the IrUSB app on the shield you see a "table", does it identify the IrUSB widget in that list? (Since the send ir command is blinking it, I'm pretty sure its there) but in the past I've had to refresh that list a few times to get it to recognize the dongle.
Apart from that maybe remove the driver from myserver (or the device from the driver at least) and reinstall it?
You are trying to use the test from the Driver Test page, correct? I normally use the Send Key, Home or Down as the test commands... In my experiences it just worked... so there is probably something amiss in the device/driver setup... the "no controller found" error seems to me that its myServer not finding the irUsb device (which is basically the same IP as the shield, but on a different port)...

Hmm, I actually did all of that. I have the app, have the irUSB connected, when I click “send IR” in the app i see the USB light up, so it seems to be connected correctly. I have the driver in myserver with the IP of the shield (have tried both manual adding and discovery- it discovers the device). But then when I try to issue a command, nothing happens. I use my server to send a command like to navigate up, or use the home button, and nothing happens. In the logs I see an error in my server saying something like “no controller found”

I think you’re right that there’s some issue finding the irUSB. It auto discovers it, but something must not be set up properly. I’ll probably try disconnecting and trying again (have already tried reinstalling the driver and irUSB app a few times)
Quick question: do you have USB debugging on shield enabled or disabled? Video Storm says to disable it, so that’s what I did. But curious if yours is on/off.
Also, maybe not important, but do you have the IR USB plugged into the USB port closest to the HDMI port, or the one at the far end of your shield?

I heard back from video storm. I believe the issue is I have the newest version of the irUSB which does not have an IR receiver. They are saying I need the old version (v1) to receive IR commands. Apparently this functionality was replaced with a motion sensor on new devices (I have no idea why, that seems like a big downgrade but idk).
I think the IP should still work, but mine doesn’t, so I guess I’ll try downgrading?
The older version is nested on their site under “older products (DISCONTINUED)”. Here is a direct link to the one that supposedly works: video-storm.com/proddetail.php?prod=IRUSB_V1
I am asking if I can exchange mine.

In combination with the Smart Remote, there is no need for an IR receiver. The device you are attaching it to is now controllable via IP. Either version of the irUSB should work for you.

If you are still seeing that error on the myserver side maybe @davep can help to diagnose where it comes from?
