Videostorm irUSB was created by cjisble
The irUSB has been mentioned in a couple discussions and I thought it deserved its own thread.

From what I have read, this device can be used to control the AndroidTV device via IP commands and at the same time allow the AndroidTV device to emulate a Global Cache IP to IR box. So, I could both control a nVidia Shield and use the Shield to control my BluRay player instead of using the IR emitter in the Smart Remote.
Does anyone have any experience with this device?
Can this be setup with the drivers currently provided by Allonis?

I've mentioned it in another thread. I had good experience with it in the past, I'm waiting for one to come in so I can set it up. I'm going to try the Generic IP driver, if that doesnt work I'll probably try and use it through Home Assistant, as there is a project that supports it on Home Assistant.

We will have a baseline IRUSB driver in the next day or so. I have ordered one for driver development and it will be here towards the end of the week.

Nice! Mine should be here about that time too... I had started adding the codes into the Serial model thinking the generic ip driver could work with it? Happy to hear you guys are on it though!
thanks!

Hi @davep, just wondering if you had any progress on this. Can you update this thread once a beta is available? Will it show up on the software update section in myServer?

Funny you should ask. The initial release of the Video Storm IRUSB driver is available for download. Make sure you grab the server update along with the driver.
Connect the IRUSB as per the instructions on the Video Storm website. Install their app from the play store.
Then use discovery or manually add your IRUSB device in the driver.
Use the command builder to exercise the available functions.
The Smart Remote sample template incudes a sample page for the IRUSB. It will show up like this on the index page
While the irusb.html page looks like this.
I'm fairly surprised on how well it works. I've only tested it on a single Nvidia shield so far. It can send IR but that has not been fully tested yet.
Give it a go and let us know how it's working for you.
