Adding additional JVC projector commands was created by Thomas Wheeler
Hi,  I am back at setting up my SmartRemote after some time off.  I have most of my devices set up but the JVC Driver that I tried for my DLA_NX7 is pretty limited as far as handling the projector commands.  I don't see any easy way to add commands to this driver.  With that said I'm looking for another way that I could start from scratch using a generic driver or if someone has another way that a JVC projector can be set up and add more commands to the driver?  Any suggestions or recommendations would be great.

Thank you,  Tom

Does your projector have IR (Infrared) capability? My Onkyo AV Receiver is controlled by IP commands, but those available are limited. So I augment those commands with Onkyo IR commands, some of which are "learned". It works great!

Thanks for the suggestion but all my equipment is behind me at the back of the room.  I do have a HTWeb remote that handles the JVC nicely but i'm not sure how it is doing it under the covers.  I was hoping someone had had success using a serial generic IP driver as I thought it would work but it seems JVC does some things a little different than most TCP equipment or maybe it's me not understanding their commands.  Thank you for the suggestion.

If you have HTWebRemote setup then why not just send it a URL of the JVC command you want.  I had this setup at one point very early on before a lot of the drivers were really working.  I've since removed that so I don't have the exact syntax but if I remember correctly the URL is pretty straight forward.  If you want to get fancy I created a macro that would take a couple of parameters and then sends the formated URL.

I did try sending the Url commands from the HTweb remote and they sorta worked but then some would give me ConnectAndSend command errors and the JVC would lock up.  I would have to have to unplug it to clear the lock up.

I did set up some JVC commands in the Serial database to try.  If I sent a JVC request command first and then the actual command right after it from the command test area the commands would work.  But if I tried to put the 2 commands (request and actual command) in a macro most times it would do nothing or it would lock up the JVC.   Like all devices, JVC has a their own way of sending and receiving commands and they are always polling for commands according to their  guide:  support.jvc.com/consumer/support/documen...moteControlGuide.pdf .  Maybe I'm missing something in the macro, not sure.   I will try another take at the serial commands later today but I would be interested in the macro you used, it may work in this scenario.  I'm willing to try something new.

Thank you for you suggestions!
