Voice recognition does anything?

I can't remember if today the Mic button is exposed in myDesigner...if it is, go for it.
FYI, If you push that button and talk....your words will be converted to Text and sent to myServer as a variable. The words could be used for integration with voice services or other capabilities. Allonis has our own Text to Actions processor software that is a work in progress. Other projects have taken that priority since the reality is....few people actually end up using voice...when the screen / button UI is good and available. But we will finish that work at some point.

It's definitely not exposed in myDesigner. Can that possibly be changed in the next Designer update, whenever that occurs?

My man! I got home tonight and downloaded the latest server and template updates and see that the mic button is now available.

I cleared the remote cache, rebooted, and tested it (ironically by triggering a mic to send a voice command to the Shield lol) and can confirm that it works!

I appreciate you doing this. You guys rock!

Wasn't too much work so threw it in with the new VU meter web objects added to myDesigner to support the new AES67 audio DSP.

We really appreciate you helping people on this forum and sharing the positives on AVSforum etc. So Thank You!

@Nillaz - can I just check, you're using the mic button on the smartremote to send a command to some other system with a microphone, to make it listen, to then send a voice command to the Shield? So it doesn't involve the mic in the smartremote, or any myserver processing at all after the initial button push command is sent?

Sort of, though it's a bit convoluted and as far as I know it only works with the Shield (and possibly other Google TV devices).

I have webcams plugged into the Shields throughout the house (actually they're plugged into USB hubs that are in turn plugged into the Shields) and there's a command you can use to trigger the Google Assistant. So long as you don't have batteries in the original Nvidia Shield remote it will allow you to use the webcam as the microphone. Nothing is being processed in myServer at all.

I used this for a long time with my Harmony remotes, and from a user perspective it functions the same as having the mic built into the remote itself. You just press the button and talk. I find it useful for things like searching for videos in Youtube/SmartTube without having to tediously type using the on screen keyboard and jumping directly to specific movies in my Emby library.

I see. So it lets you trigger the Google Assistant on the Shield to listen without having it actively listening all the time. Thanks.
