ADB Access to SmartRemote?

I'd love to sideload a custom app or two on my SmartRemote. How can I get ADB access to the device? The device had ADB enabled in settings out of the box, but the charging base doesn't appear to provide a USB data connection, and the device refuses a request for ADB over IP (and I don't see an option for that in the device's developer settings anyway...) Any pointers?

Have to sideload via wifi.  Connect to it on port 55055 not the standard 5555. One thing you will find out is that the hard buttons are not mapped to the normal Android buttons.

You're right on the buttons though. I was expecting them to generate keypress events, and figured at worst I'd press each button and see what events get logged. They don't seem to be generating keypress events at all tho. How _do_ I respond to button presses in a custom app?

Nevermind, problem on the key events was between the keyboard and chair. Thanks again!
