Hmmm how to add volume level indicator on remote screen? was created by Nillaz
I'm not a programmer or anything so please bear with me here, but I'm curious how you would go about doing this. I have a Denon receiver that isn't in the same room as my theater and would like to create a label that I could drop onto scenes that polls the receiver for it's current volume level. I'm not looking to create a slider to control the volume or anything, just a simple small element I could add to scene pages that updates the current volume level in real time when I press the volume up/down buttons on the remote. Alternatively a popup that appears on the screen for a few seconds with the current volume level when you turn it up/down would work just as well and possibly even better.
Yes, the receiver has an OSD that shows the volume level on the tv when you adjust it. It's big, ugly, and distracting for everyone when we are watching a movie together. Ideally I'd like to disable the OSD entirely and just rely on the remote screen to let me know what the current volume level is set at.
I don't even know where to start to accomplish something like this. Any ideas?

If it's something you don't mind being displayed all the time then it's pretty simple. Just create a button or label and then in the label style tab add the variable {{{{zone_volume_var_{{clientname}}}}}}.
What I want to do is have a popup that displays the number for a few seconds and then disappears but I haven't found a way to set a timer or anything. The documentation seems to indicate there are timers but when I try them it says command not found.

I can see the benefit in using a popup since it doesn't permanently take up valuable screen real estate and I'll probably cross that bridge eventually...once guys like you figure it out lol. For now I'll be content with a button/label if I can actually get it functioning.

I appreciate the insight! Unfortunately I tried copying this variable to a label in myDesigner and when I test it it returns a value of zero. This doesn't change if I adjust the volume. Is there anything you can think of off the top of your head which might be preventing this?If it's something you don't mind being displayed all the time then it's pretty simple. Here is a short video on how you can show the volume level on every page.

That video only works if you have only one room and one avr. What I showed you should be good for any room. But you do have to make sure the room has been selected first.
