Now playing doesn't update when you stop watching something

If I'm watching a video through Kodi the myServer driver creates a bunch of 'now playing' related server variables such as av_21_nowplaying_albumcover, av_21_nowplaying_label, av_21_time etc. These are used in the smartremote template to display a very nice now playing display on the touchscreen. But when I hit 'stop' to stop watching the video I would expect the now playing area to go blank again and it doesn't. The related server variables keep their last contents and so the smartremote keeps the now playing display the same.

It's not a fatal bug or anything because as soon as I start watching something else the now playing area updates to show that. But it does look weird and slightly irritating having the stale information hanging around.

It just occurred to me I can create a 'stop_kodi' macro that sends the stop command then empties the relevant server variables. But I'd rather not have a hacky workaround lurking, waiting to go wrong.

Agreed it's weird behaviour from Kodi... Nice design in the template though!

Related to this - I can't for the life of me get the nowplaying_albumcover thumbnail to actually display when launching my project from myDesigner, or from my iPad. It DOES show in myDesigner!
This suggests some sort of permission issue - but I'm out of ideas... any help much appreciated!
(I've tried all the usual re-starting/ clearing caches etc)

I'm not sure if I'm interpreting you correctly but it sounds like mine's the opposite. When the now playing variables are set I don't see anything in myDesigner in the edit mode but when I launch the project I see all the contents of the variables including images in the remote simulator. I also see the contents correctly if I just browse to the page in a Google Chrome browser (http://192.168.1.101/smartremote/kodi.html).

Yes you have it correct - it is the opposite from you!
I just tried browsing direct to the page with Chrome but get the same. The other variables show correctly, just not the albumcover picture, when it does in the designer window!

I don't know how technical you are but in Chrome if you right-click the image (or rather where it's supposed to be) and select 'Inspect' you can look at what URL Chrome is trying to load for the image. You could also then refresh the page and look in the 'Network' tab of DevTools to see the status of that request e.g. 404 not found, 403 unauthorized etc.
