GlobalCache driver

The BluRayIR driver and the CableTV driver both state "Requires the GlobalCache driver". The System Software Updater does not list a GlobalCache driver. It does have a "Generic IR Control" driver and a "GenericTVIR" driver. What driver do I select for the GlobalCache driver?

the GenericIR Control is what you need for both GlobalCache and the SmartRemote IR emitter.

Can I ask as question about the Global Cache ITach IP2IR device and the distinction between IR 'emitter' and IR 'blaster'? Am I right that each 'emitter' is tied to one device but a 'blaster' can control more than one?

As per my comments in the Harmony thread, I am considering replacing my Harmony with direct IR drive (though would still prefer not to for all sorts of reasons).

I've just purchased a used unit on ebay for £25 (about USD30) with no IR emitters/blasters and no power unit, but for that price I couldn't really let it go.

One issue I have:

The harmony hub essentially provides three 'blasters'. One in the hub itself and two wired which plug in via 3.5mm jacks. I require the use of all three as blasters (as each one is used to control more than one device) - they are on different shelves in an AV unit (one sitting on top to control a projector and screen mounted on the ceiling).

These devices cannot be controlled by IP direct. If I could, I would. I am therefore forced to use IR.

I read the documentation for the Global Cache IP2IR module and was concerned to see that of the three 3.5mm ports only one could be designated for a blaster. I assume that means that ports 1 and 2 will be tied to only one device each? How annoying though - why can't all three be used as blasters?

If so, this is a problem for me.

I really want three separate blasters. They can all emit the same IR codes at the same time, it's not a problem (I believe the Harmony blasters all blast out at the same time - and I don't get repeat commands etc).

What are my options?

Am I right that ports 1 and 2 are tied to one device?

Is it possible to use a three way splitter in port three and therefore increase the number of blasters (all working simultaneously)?

Can someone who uses one let me know?

Port 3 can be configured for a blaster. This is higher power and can send an IR signal a much further distance. The other 2 ports can be used with multi head emitters and control multiple devices...provided those devices don't use the same IR codes or you're going to be sending commands to both devices simultaneously. I am currently doing this in my sunroom.

That's great thanks. Good to know ports 1 and 2 can each control multiple devices.
