trouble accessing via serial connection was created by ffneil@comcast.net
I have followed the instructions and myserver is connected to the elk, but it seems to be refusing the connection.  I am able to connect to the elk with same cable and adapter via HA and myserver5.  from myserver6 I can use putty to connect to the elk.  I first have to disable the driver in myserver6.  not sure what I am missing

Linux or Windows? If Linux is the serial port defined /dev/TTYUSBn?   Turn on verbose logging in the driver and restart myServer. Let me see the event log showing the driver trying to connect?
