Automatic creation of macros

Automatic creation of macros was created by Nillaz
Can someone tell me what exactly triggers the system to auto generate an activate-source macro? Is it the adding of a device through the corresponding driver, the creation of a  new Source in Sources & Apps, or something else entirely?

I noticed that devices such as streaming devices and audio receivers that have a driver don't require me to create a macro. They are just already there. OTOH if I create a new source and declare that source to be, say, a bluray player (which doesn't have a driver available and therefore needs to use IR) it doesn't create a macro so I have to create one manually and link it to the source.

The reason I ask is that last night DaveP added new sources to the system specifically for XBox and PlayStation as part of an experiment. These devices don't have drivers and need to rely on IR for control, but part of his instructions say that the system will automatically create activation macros for these sources that include further instructions in there for things I will need to do to finish the experiment. When I create these new sources it doesn't automatically generate the required macros, and I'm having a hard time understanding where I'm going wrong.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!
