My server 6 SMb file browsing

I just installed myserer 6 and transfered the licience to new hardware pi5 with nvme drive. After a few hiccups I got everything up and running

But I'm having a issue browsing the shares on the server and if I hit the locate image button in mydesigner "which I assume opens a explorer window" the program crashes.

Here's what I've tried and or done
-set static ip using network manager on myserver6 desktop, manual needs updating pi OS debian bookworm no longer uses dhcp.conf by default.
-deleted credentials from windows and added them back
-disable my antivirus software on windows pc  "eset"
-reinstalled network adapter drivers on windows pc
-looked at smb.conf on my server for any errors that might stand out "not a linux expert by any mean though"
-installed wsdd on myserver "i could see myserver in explorer but still couldn't browse files or folders.
-ran virus/malware scans on my computer
-ran smbstatus on myserver to make sure it was running. "it was and my pc's ip address was connected to it"
-uninstalled and reinstalled mydesigner

I have two other linux based servers, OpenMediaVault 7 running on X86 and Home Assistant running on a pi4.
With both on these I can open a explorer window and get to a shared folder with
\\ip address\share
I even deleted My Home Assistant windows credentials to check if my PC would prompt for username /password and it did.
I've pretty much ruled out an issue with my computer.

Mydesgner works it shows all the projects and I can map a drive to myserver using the "use other credentials check box"
but the funny thing is mydesigner uses the same path \\ip address\myserver that windows explorer can't access
I know I saw other posts with this or simular issues
Anybody have a solution or a easy workaround

Thanks

It sounds like something is not quite right with the Samba setup.  When I setup MyServer in a VM, I followed these instructions for Samba:

ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-and-configure-samba#1-overview

Perhaps this might help.

I was having similar problems connecting MyDesigner to the MyServer. What worked for me was to take MyDesigner out of the picture, and attempted to establish a permanent file share connection from my windows system using Windows FiIe Explorer.  Once I had established that permanent file share connection, MyDesigner would connect with no problem. As I recall I had to try several different user name/passwords when connecting with File Explorer before I found the user name/password combination that worked.

Here is the smb.conf file that myserver is using if anyone can spot something that looks off I'd appreaciate it

#
# Sample configuration file for the Samba suite for Debian GNU/Linux.
#
#
# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options most of which
# are not shown in this example
#
# Some options that are often worth tuning have been included as
# commented-out examples in this file.
# - When such options are commented with ";", the proposed setting
# differs from the default Samba behaviour
# - When commented with "#", the proposed setting is the default
# behaviour of Samba but the option is considered important
# enough to be mentioned here
#
# NOTE: Whenever you modify this file you should run the command
# "testparm" to check that you have not made any basic syntactic
# errors.

#======================= Global Settings =======================

# This can be either the interface name or an IP address/netmask;
# interface names are normally preferred

# Only bind to the named interfaces and/or networks; you must use the
# 'interfaces' option above to use this.
# It is recommended that you enable this feature if your Samba machine is
# not protected by a firewall or is a firewall itself. However, this
# option cannot handle dynamic or non-broadcast interfaces correctly.
; bind interfaces only = yes

#### Debugging/Accounting ####

I don't see a problem with the Samba config file.

Samba keeps its own password file.  Have you setup a Samba user?

sudo smbpasswd -a allonis

Adds the allonis user to Samba, and prompts you to set the password.

this is so frustrating at this point i'm just throwing stuff at the problem
