Initial pre-setup questions

Just prepping everything and getting all the documentation in order before I look to set everything up (hopefully with no problems!) this weekend, and have some quick questions, which likely have some obvious answers. That said, as someone who has written many procedures, I always say that there are no obvious answers, unless they are already detailed in the process / documentation!

1. Does the SmartRemote connect to WiFi via 2.4ghz or 5ghz? And can it use WiFi6? I have a network for each of the three, all running from my router. I would assume with the Remote being Android it would be happy with either of the first two, maybe not WiFi6 though?

2. Is the Android version on the SmartRemote updateable? What about Android security patches and updates?

3. Can we run myDesigner on the Pi on the shelf mount systems, or does it have to run on a separate machine and connect into myServer that way? Or is it already preinstalled on myServer - the documentation is not actually clear on this point at all. I'm assuming from the fact you mention Windows in the documentation that it's Windows only software at right now and can't run on the Pi, server itself, but I figured I'd check.

4. The documentation at forum.allonis.com/support/documentation?view=article&id=374 states "If you have not previously downloaded and installed the myDesigner app from our web site please do so now", but it does not have a download link, and I can't find one - maybe I'm just not seeing it for looking . You could maybe consider adding the link for the page at this part of the documentation. The Downloads tab under Support only has myServer6 download links for the various versions, and I could not find a link for myDesigner. The myDesigner links on that page are all to the videos for setup, none of which have the download link for the software.

There's probably more questions to come, but those are the first ones that spring to my mind.

connect to any Wifi connection that the SmartRemote sees.  It doesn't have to be the fastest.  Choose the most reliable.
Leave the operating system alone.  No updates required until further notice.
mydesigner today runs only on Windows.  Please read the documentation.  In process is a web based version, but that's a lot of work and no promises on when.
Go to allonis.com, create a login account, login and go to support / Documenation / Downloads / Allonis software / myDesigner 6.

Use this forum for all Q&A  phone and remote services are available as a premium service.

Running myDesigner on the Pi server, particularly since the shelf mount version has a 1tb SSD in it that's not really going to be doing much, seems like it would be a good idea, but I understand that it can be a PITA to get stuff running in Linux which is designed for Windows. I've got a Windows box running my servers for Home Assistant (although the HA server is running in a VM) and Plex and some other things, and a Windows laptop, so that's not a huge issue.

Go to allonis.com, create a login account, login and go to support / Documenation / Downloads / Allonis software / myDesigner 6. - I'm logged in with the account I'm logged into the forum with. Do I need a different account to access the myDesigner software on Allonis.com? Using the login I'm using for the forum all I see at the link for software is myServer 6 downloads.

I will be following each step, exactly as written or recorded (and probably actually using both videos and written documentation at the same time, just to be sure). I really, really don't like skipping steps or improvising, I love a good step by step procedure to follow

Oh, 2.4ghz only. Ok, that's helpful to know. Maybe could be included in the documentation.

I'm logged in (using this ID I'm logged into the forum with), and the Allonis Software - Registered Users Only section only has myServer builds showing, no myDesigner links.

Downloads (allonis.com)  

It is closer to the bottom of the page that has a title of most downloaded files. My Designer 6 setup is the name of the file I believe.  Make sure you are signed in or it will say add to cart for $10 or so. If you are logged in, it is free.
