Image refresh question

Sat Jan 12, 2019 2:18 pm

I have a handful of images on my home page - news images related to headlines. The images are stored on the local drive of my server and referenced as images\rss1-1.jpg, images\rss1-2.jpg, etc. As the news stories update then I copy the corresponding pictures into the file.

It appears that when I copy new images into the files and then force a screen refresh it does not refresh the pictures. It appears I have to reload the page in the browser. I am using Chrome. Ironically on my Mac on Safari it does seem to work? I tried Opera and Firefox on the Windows machines and it did the same thing.

Any thoughts on how I can get these images to update? Thanks,
Simon D. S. Mason

If the images are changing but their names are not changing then the browser will use the cached images all the time. If your path to the image just looks like images/rss-1.1.jpg then that will be a problem with cache.

You could try creating a server variable {{rss11image}} set it's value to be "getimage?images/rss1-1.jpg" and then modify the process that is updating the rss-1.1.jpg image to do a SetVariable|rss11image~empty.png!SetVariable|getimage?images/rss1-1.jpg in rapid sequence. This should be enough to force the refresh of the new image.

The prove this could work you should just try these command manually.

Did I do this correctly?
Created a variable {{image_rss1-1}}. Added this to the scene in the image field.
Ran the command; Macro|SetVariable|image_rss1-1~empty.png!SetVariable|image_rss1-1~getimage?images/rss1-1.jpg
I am not getting anything in the image display?

We would need details on your specific question. Certainly the system displays images for lots of reasons. Weather is one example. Follow that example of the image path and the user interface web widget properties.

It's an image coming over from Homeseer via BLML2HS plugin, and it looks like this. /images/Sonos/Artwork/CoverRINCON_000E582ADA2A01400_640.jpg

that is a relative path...you would need the full path.
