Internet Explorer 8 Beta SP2 breaks ..\ relative directory

Sat Sep 13, 2008 9:20 pm

Installing IE8 Beta SP2 may break the ability to reference an image using a ..\myimage.jpg path.

This will affect at least MLSageTV and MLBeyondTV that uses this as the default image and popup image path. A workaround for those two products is to reference the full path in the Plugin's Scene tab settings.

I have uninstalled IE8, and all works again.

More research is needed if this is an IE8 bug, or a new security measure.

Sadly it is both, a bug and a feature. We have a couple of developers that have noted this on some of the sites they have been maintaining. I will see if I can get a technical answer from them as to what MS is actually doing to break this.
