Amazon Echo

Tue Nov 08, 2016 9:25 am

David / Dave

I know you have been working on voice recognition, but would this work ??

Using an Echo Dot and IFTTT
Alexa - Speak Phrase - make the house cooler
Trigger Maker event to adjust the climate setpoint

I don't currently own an Echo, but might be worth the $50 if this type of VR would work.

Ideas ???

Bought an Echo Dot this afternoon.

Using IFTTT, created a new applet for Alexa to trigger a Maker event.

I can now say "Alexa, trigger make the house cooler" and MyServer will drop the climate setpoint by 2 degrees.

Anyway to get MyServer to send a command back to Alexa ???

Would be nice if Alexa would reply, I have adjust the setpoint.

Once we have a native Echo driver then we can make the Echo respond with a reply. Until then it will remain silent. Of course if Speak worked for you that would be a short term work-around. But alas...

Won't happen by Christmas but yes

"Alexa tell myServer to launch the nukes"

and

"Ok Google tell myServer to duck and hide"

will happen....

Curious if this is still being worked on. Native voice control would be a fantastic feature.

Yes still in active development. Google Assistant will come first then Amazon.
