A/V Status

Wed Oct 24, 2018 10:50 am

Looking for the best way to notify MyServer when someone grabs the remote and turns on the Tv. I have been using discontinued Xantech sensors, but they have all failed at this point.

Hoping Allonis users can point me in the right direction.

Many Thanks
Erik

Global Cache has a video sensor that could be used to detect the TV is on.

Thanks Dave,

That video sensor is a composite video sensor, none of my displays use composite video.

A lot of TVs nowadays have usb ports on them. I wonder if the port is still live while the TV is on or not. If not, you could probably rig up either a 5volt or contact closure sensor of some type that would give you status.

There used to be boxes out there that would measure how much current is being drawn by the TV and trigger a contact closure based on that.
