Play Movies on TV

Thu Dec 14, 2017 7:59 am

I see my Sony TV showing up in the list of Family Items (Audio/Video Components) so I was wondering if I can use it as a player for myMovies, Amazon, Netflix etc.

As a follow up, if so, how do I set this up? If not, is this something that can be added?

Thank you

Does the TV support DLNA? If so, then it might work now.

The TV is being discovered because it is broadcasting that is it either a DLNA media server or DLNA media renderer. Most likely the latter. If the TV supports the appropriate codecs you could use it as a player for myMovies. You cannot stream Netflix or Amazon to it via DLNA because the Netflix and Amazon streams are loaded with DRM and require players with the appropriate DRM decoders in them.

Thank you both for the replies. I will continue to look into options for what I am trying to do.

As a followup, is it possible to have myServer ignore devices? I have an xbox that keeps getting added multiple times at the same ip address and I believe at the same port, etc.
