IP Address Changed - No Images

Sun Oct 29, 2017 8:42 am

I don't know how it happened, but after a power outage, and restart of everything, the IP address of myServer computer changed. So I changed all my web clients to go to this new address, but now I don't have any of the movie covers or music covers showing up. Is there a way to get these images to show up again?

Thank you.

go into myServer network properties and reset the domain / IP to the new address. Restart myServer.

For reliability, do not use DHCP provided addresses, unless they are provided static IPs per device.

You should have a network address strategy. We have an example in

Thank you . I will look into that. I had the devices setup in my router to save the assigned IP addresses, but I don't know if the power outage and reboot of the router changed this, or if Comcast did an update which changed it, but they all changed address.

Just reading over that quickly, my setup now is: Comcast router>>>network switches (3)>>>> computers, would I use the two port one and have one port go to the myserver computer, and the other port go to the switches? I am using three of the Comcast router ports with 1 going right to the myserver computer, and the other two going to the switches.

Thank you

What I am speaking of is only IP addresses. Not physical connections.
I would not recommend that you use more than one domain as it requires a fair amount of networking understanding to setup.
For now, just make sure you are using Static IP addresses. Either addressed in the device (like myServer PC) or on the DHCP server (typically that's your router) that gives out a specific address for each MAC address (the myServer PC's ethernet card).

That way, the addresses won't change willy nilly with a reboot of a device.
