Automation Rules and SMS or Messaging

Tue Dec 20, 2016 9:54 pm

Dave - Here is a little one to figure out. I am attempting to use Automation Rules to send me a message when the alarm system goes from Armed to Disarmed and so on. Seems so simple, but it will not work. The trigger works as I can change a variable with it, so it is the command that will not work as follows. THe OwnerInfo_Email variable is valid.

With this command
SendMessage|From~{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~Alarm Changed~Alarm Changed Value

I get the following error
Error at SendMailMessage at line #4501 - The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.

With this command;
SendSMS|UserName~dbruner~Alarm Status Changed

Nothing Happens

Am I missing something.
Thanks

Hmm, command builder might be out of whack.

SendMessage|From~{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~Alarm Changed~Alarm Changed Value should be
SendMessage|{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~Alarm Changed~Alarm Changed Value

and SendSMS|UserName~dbruner~Alarm Status Changed should be
SendSMS|dbruner~Alarm Status Changed

Make sure there is a valid phone number and carrier defined for dbruner in the Users tab.

Dave - With your example for email; the following error happens;

String;
SendMessage|{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~Alarm Changed~Alarm Changed Value

Error;

Error at SendMailMessage at line #4501 - The parameter 'address' cannot be an empty string.

I know that the email address is valid in the field.

As for SMS; Works great.

Just a small typo

SendMessage|{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~{{OwnnerInfo_email}}~Alarm Changed~Alarm Changed Value

should be

SendMessage|{{OwnerInfo_email}}~{{OwnerInfo_email}}~Alarm Changed~Alarm Changed Value
