Intall not Going Correctly

Windows 7 machine. I have Norton disabled. I'm stuck on the SQL server step. I get a screen entitled "Install Setup" files. The task gets to "Scan for product updates" where it just scans forever and ever, like half an hour now.

Thoughts?

OK - I changed Norton to allow it to access the internet. That seemed to work.

OK - all installed but MyServer won't run. I get an error message "The type initializer for 'myServer.modGlobals' threw an exception"

Now what ??

I just edited the installation how to to advise to shut off Antivirus utilities...
I suspect that the Antivirus prevented something from installing properly.

To see if the SQL server installed...shut down antivirus and install myDesigner...see if that will connect to the SQL server database.
If it doesn't, then possibly there was an issue with the SQL server installation process. DaveP might have to chime in.

If you want antivirus to be on the same PC, then ensure you have all of the myserver communication network ports OPEN in the antivirus.

I uninstalled everything Allonis. Then deleted the Allonis directory. I then did a system restore to restore any system files that may have been altered in my previous attempt. Then did a completely fresh install with Norton not running at all. Still get 'myServer.modGlobals' threw an exception" when starting MyServer. MyDesigner did seem to connect to the database, however.

So I can't think of anything else to try at this point. Please advise.

Nope, MyDesigner says could not connect to SQL server. So goose eggs there too,

Hi chris,
Send me a PM with TeamViewer 12 user name / password and let me remote in.
Sure sounds like the SQL server didn't install.
This is not Allonis software so uninstalling Allonis stuff didn't address this.
I am wondering if like a recent user, that somehow your server isn't listening on correct ports.

SQL Server 2014 did not install. I'll have to manually install it to see what it does not like. Install a copy of TeamViewer and email me your 9 digit Team Viewer ID and password. I'll remote in and resolve the issue.

After I did the system restore there was some other stuff that didn't work on the computer so I undid the system restore and started over. MyDesigner seems to be hooking up with the database now but I still get "The type initializer for 'myServer.modGlobals' threw an exception" when I start MyServer.

Dave, I'll get Teamvier and PM you. After that you can access the machine any time that's convenient to you. It's on all the time and is not the household's primary computer.

Let me know when TeamViewer is installed. You can download the latest version right from myInstaller. You'll find it listed in the last section at the bottom of the list.

Dave,

Did you remote in and get myServer working? I thought you did and I played around trying to get a client computer in the house to connect to it. Later I had to re-start the server computer and when I did myServer again started throwing the exception mentioned earlier in this thread.

I sent you a PM with the new Team viewer password. It seems to change every time you re-start the computer.

Server is up and running. The issue was the PC was running Windows 7 and did not have .Net 4.5.2 installed because Windows Updates do not run on the PC. I manually installed the .Net 4.5.2 distribution and myServer is now happy.

The .NET fix worked well on my install, BTW.

Had the same problem on install except my server has no antivirus. But, I do have a Windows 7 Pro SP1 install with updates turned off YEARS ago.

Manually installed .NET 4.5.2 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/downloa ... x?id=42642), rebooted and myServer loaded - yah!

Dave, I want to thank you for posting the fix as more often than not...the problem is posted and a request for Teamviewer is made and that is that. Great to be have the fix available and fantastic then it works.

.Net install requirement is also part of the installation documentation ;)
