About every year or so we have to go through the exercise of updating some of the 3rd party components that our software uses. Next week we will be updating all the audio software apps and drivers to use the 2018 version of the 3rd party audio controls. Also, all the apps and device drivers that parse JSON data from the Internet will be getting the new JSON parser dll.
What does this mean for you? Nothing as far as new features go. These components affect things that happen in the background that you never see.
Then why do it? Because, we need to make sure we use software components that are fully supported. We also benefit from any bug fixes they have made to their components.
A total of 37 apps and drivers have been updated. The one thing you have to be aware of is when you see these updates hit you MUST update everything that you see as new. You cannot do the update piecemeal. It's update everything or nothing.
We don't anticipate any issues as everything will be tested thoroughly in house before releasing anything. If you are the conservative type you might want to wait a few days after the release. Again, there is no new significant features.
