If the Control outputs are not showing up make sure you go into ElkRP and look at the Control Outputs. There is a check box column marked "Show". You have to make sure the controls that are being used are checked off or the panel will not expose them to the outside world.

All of the security drivers work fine. It really boils down to what you need in a security panel. HAI and Elk boast many more features that DSC and Vista.

Is it me or does it seems that the counters are no longer being pulled from the ELK on a regular basis with the latest?

Counters are never polled. We rely on the Elk to let us know when they change.

Am I the only one where the counters do not update?

It does not appear that the Elk broadcasts counter changes. So I either have to make the driver constantly poll the panel or you could create automation rules in the Elk such that whenever a counter changes value you would send text out the serial port like "MLServeCmd.SetVariable|security_1_counter_<<counter#>>~<<counter value>>"

I created a hardware based watchdog for my MLSERVER and HOMESEER.

Long story short, when the timer (counter) goes to 9 then I have MLServer and HomeSeer shut themselves down and restart the machine. If the timer goes to zero, then I have the ELK click a relay which is attached to the motherboard and performs a hardware reset or power off/on.

Wen you start getting into ELK rules one will quickly start using counters and outputs and such.

Dave,I would suggest that you have a selectable polling period. Something like every 10 seconds to 10 minutes. I would think that most people would poll every 15, 30, or 60 seconds.

Thanks...

Dave,

Another thought just occurred. Why don't you make it into a command that can be executed based on a timer in MLServer? I am fairly confident that the Elk driver already processes the commands once the command is sent to the Elk to send back the counter values.

Makes sense .

Since there are 64 counters that is a lot to poll especially if no one is using them. So the new version of the driver has a GetCounter command. You can use a MLTimer timer to query the counters you are interested in at any interval you need.

Dave,

Having issues with the Elk losing comms to the serial driver. Not sure when it started since I look now more for thermostat change events vs fall when I didn't have the heat on. It appears that the driver still thinks it's communicating (the events log shows tx and rcv) but the data is different between the server variables and the driver as shown. If the server gets a restart/shutdown, the Elk driver leaves the com port open and then fails when mlserver starts up again. It did this to me on the weekend and left my floor heat on and it was 90 F in the kitchen! And of course all my t-stat automation is failing.

Of course this is critical to get working, but also; is there any kind of watchdog that can look for drivers that error out and warn/throw event/restart/etc?

On reboot of machine, everything seems to work for a little while.

The event log was actively scrolling new data at the time of this capture, but nothing was "really" happening.

You'll have to log to a file so I can see what the Elk is sending. If it is still sending and receiving then the Elk must be in play here with the data as the driver is only reporting what the Elk is sending.
