What IP Cameras are you using?

Fri Aug 17, 2012 5:19 pm

We're trying to prioritize the V4 IP Camera drivers. What IP Cameras are you using or would like to use if we don't current have a legacy plugin for it.

Foscam F18908W

There are several models. This is the wireless version. PTZ - LAN Network - Audio Listen - Motion Sensor Security - Full controls from Android devices ... tablets and phones.

Widely available for about $200 each.

Good, I've got a FI8910W. Between the two of us we should be able to get all the bells and whistles working on it.

A V4 Driver for all Foscam IP cameras was released today. It is a member of the Video Family. Command builder has the command syntax. Working great with my Foscam. Especially love the live video feed you get on the web clients. What a great camera for around $100. One note: if you set up the camera with a username and password then make sure you add the username and password as part of the address when you define the camera in Family Manager e.g. Address = cinemar:foscam@192.168.1.116
or username:password@ipaddress

Using axis 209mfd and panasonic bb-hcm547a

I mostly just use the axis object in my scenes to view the cameras... what additional features will this bring?

If you already have cameras there is no need to go out and get a Foxcam. If you don't have a camera and you are looking for one then the Foxcam's are very attractive.

1. What flash object do we use to display the camera video in ML4 MainLobby? In tablets?

2. What is correct entry for username of "dad" and no password? Like this? dad:@192.168.1.70

3. What about IP port number? Mine is 70. Does it need to be in the address like this? dad:@192.168.1.70:70

Do these entries look OK?

EDIT:

I was successful in execute commands through the Command Builder, so I obviously have control. Just need to know how to view the darn things 8)

OK. I see the video ML Server variables now. When I open the tablet editor to the cameras.html scene, I see my camera names and the controls work, but there is no image ... in fact, when there is no image, I can't even see the outline of the image object.

When I insert a new image object with {{video_1_liveimage}} I get nothing ... but when I use the actual address, ie, http://dad:@192.168.1.70:70/videostream.cgi I can see live video from the camera in the editor only ... unfortunately, not on my tablet.

I confirmed that the default Browser on pre-Android 4.1 systems cannot render the live video feed from the Foscam camera. The Chrome browse can render the image on pre-4.1 devices. No issues on iOS devices.

OK. As I suspected ... sigh!

I still don't understand why "camera id1" live stream displays in the editor when I use the variable's value, ie. dad:@192.168.1.70:70 in the image objects label,

but not the variable itself, ie. {{video_1_liveimage}}

I just updated the Foscam driver to be a bit more friendly to Android devices. There is a new server variable {{video_<<id>>_image}} that is a snapshot image that gets updated about once per second that displays fine on Android devices.

Ron, not sure what is going on as it is working fine here. I suspect your object name is out of sync with the server variable in play. Did you copy and paste the image? Check the name vs. the variable name. See below.
