AMG Subscription required error

Fri Dec 05, 2008 11:23 am

I'm trying to give DMR a whirl but anytime I try to do a lookup I get an error in DVDLobby that "this operation requies a subscription to AMG".

What am I missing?

Server version 583, latest DMR version. I did not install MLClientSvc because I don't need any remote capabilites (all lookups are addressable from the server and I'm not auto ripping).

I'm seeing this error using the MLDMR trial when I try to lookup in the changer. I have added ... to the TOC numbers and parameters to shorten the post. I can get MLDMR to work with a keyword lookup, but not when doing a lookup in my CX777ES.

Code: Select all

My recollection is that the licensing with MLDMR was both time and number of lookups related.

The issue was that most of the MLDMR value was to organize an existing library of media...to allow the user in demo to derive that value didn't pay for the licensing / development of MLDMR. So, there was a limit of something like 25 lookups that was suppose to be included.

I am wondering if you hit one of the two licensing limitations (time vs number of lookups).

DaveP certainly is fresher with the implementation than I.

I just installed it about 90 minutes ago... One of my keyword searches returned dozens of results, does each result count as a lookup against the 25, or is it based on the number of unique searches? I'm merely testing it on a DVD already in my changer just to see how it works.

I know there have been some issues with reading the TOC from discs recently due to changes with AMG. Dave is working on an update though.

If you are seeing the "Needs AMG - you must have a subscription to AMG to use this command!" then 1) you did not restart MLServer after enabling or disabling a plugin, 2) MLDMR did not install properly (look for error during startup), 3) Your 30 day eval of MLDMR has timed out or 4) You modified the system clock on your PC and the eval automatically shut themselves down. In all cases the MLServer verbose event log will tell the story.
